Marching On With The Hodgepodge

Before we know it, it's going to be Summer for Pete's sake! Seriously.  Where is the time going?! Joyce is bossy (ha ha ha) back with today's questions.

1. February ended with an extra 24 hours in 2016. What did you do with your bonus day?
Well, Monday is my usual 'housework' day (extra or not) but . . . I had lunch plans set some weeks ago - which I totally spaced until I looked at my calendar at 8:30 am - so I started a load of wash, did a quick errand and headed to lunch with a girlfriend.  We then proceeded to have a 3 hour lunch.
3.5, actually.  It was good.

2. What's something in your life that's grown by leaps and bounds in recent days, weeks, months, or years? I'm giving you lots of room to come up with an answer here, so no fair passing on this one.
Well shoot.  Apparently I MUST answer.  Ha.  Um . . . let's see . . .
Years - The Littles in the Grande Familia has morphed to 11.  7 of those are 2 or younger.  Yep.
Months - Our own immediate family has grown by 2 daughters with the engagement of the boys.
Weeks - My own personal faith.  I'm reading this book during Lent.  It's good.
Days - Um... Times I left the house.  After last week of barely stepping outside, the past 4 days I have been the exact opposite. I really need to do that 'housecleaning' that I put off on Monday.  Eh.

3. Do you read reviews about a film before deciding if you'll see it? Did you watch The Oscars this year, and if so your thoughts on the program? How many of the Best Picture nominees had you seen prior to the broadcast? (Spotlight, The Martian, The Big Short, The Revenant, Mad Max: Fury Road, Room, and Brooklyn) If you watched The Oscars who gets your award for 'best dressed'?
Usually I ask the kids if it was good and if they think I'll like it.  We did watch the Oscars. It was okay. I was mostly interested in how Chris Rock was going to handle all the diversity drama. Personally, I thought he could have said 1/4 of what he did about it and move on.   And let's just be honest, I really just watch for the fashion.  Ha.  I have only seen The Martian.
As for my 'best dressed' - I really liked Lady Gaga's pants? dress?  Truly, my favorite was GMA's Amy Robach's dress.  Ha.  I cannot for the life of me find a picture of her in it for you but trust me, it was really pretty. My criteria for 'best dressed' is if I would like to wear it.  Ha.

4. When did you last have overnight houseguests? Give us your top three tips on being a good houseguest.
Well I don't think of the kids as house guests so they don't count.  Ha.  So the last time 'real' house guests were here was the end of January when Miss Holly brought her Mom and sister to check out wedding venues.

That reminds me . . . I need to put the sheets back on those beds. They are sitting on TOP of the beds, just not ON the beds.  One of the 'problems' of those bedrooms being in the South Wing where I don't see those sheets sitting on the beds every day - out of sight, out of mind.  Ha.   The Seattle kiddos will be home this weekend so yeah, sheets are good.  Ha.

As for top three tips . . . hmm.

1. Be 'at home.'   I like house guests to not act like 'guests.'  Know what I mean?  I'd like and hope for them to be comfortable enough to just be here and help themselves.  I mean, if you're staying with us, you are likely very welcome and we are more than happy to have you be totally 'at home.'

2.  In the same vein - If you're not from here, be assured we want you to go out and explore and not worry about spending all of your time with us.  We can totally be 'hotel like' if you need/want that. That said, try to let us know your plans so we can schedule accordingly.  Again, if you're staying with us we are likely looking forward to any and all time you want to give us.

3. On a purely 'housekeeping' level - take your towels to the laundry level.  I don't like picking up wet towels. Not that any of our guests has ever not done this.

5. March 2nd is Peanut Butter Lover's Day. Will you be celebrating? If so, would you prefer a home made peanut butter cookie, a Reese's peanut butter cup, an old fashioned peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or shall I just hand you a jar and a tablespoon?
I have no plans to celebrate.  I can take peanut butter or leave it. I do not like peanut butter cookies. At all.  I have to be in the mood for a Reese's so I'd pick peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  Raspberry preserves please.

6. Why is failure important? Or isn't it?
I think the actual word 'failure' makes a bad connotation of actually just keeping on trying.  Ha. I'm such an enabler.  That said, I think having to really work at something makes one more appreciative of the end result if and when a goal is met.

7. Share with us one fun thing on your March calendar.
Hmm.  I really have nothing specifically 'fun' on the calendar for March.  We have more than a couple Blazer games. I have a baby shower to attend. The kids will be home this weekend. I have a hair appointment . . . All of the usual regularly scheduled stuff.  Not sure what the Easter celebration is going to entail but it should be fun. So . . . I guess Easter.  Ha.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Sister Debbie (she's my sister, not a nun) gifted me with this darling little 'cottage' piece of art yesterday . . .

She had it custom made with me in mind.  I love it! And I needed a little something something. Somehow she always knows this. Sisters.  They're a good thing.

I had two older brother (one passed away) and I always wanted a sister. I see how close my girls are and am so thankful for that. What a cute piece of art! Sounds like you have some fun things coming up!

Nice to have an expanding family and lots of visits. I don't have much planned until Easter either.
